Properties can share similar names, rebrand, or appear through copied pages. Match the exact address, map position, official website or platform profile, and a current contact. The Tourist Police Trust Portal can provide an additional official verification signal for participating accommodation, but it does not replace contract and payment checks.
If the listing is new, unusually cheap, or asks for a bank transfer, increase the level of evidence. Reverse urgency: the more pressure you feel, the more slowly you verify the recipient and terms.
Turn the reservation into a specification
Record the room type, bed configuration, occupancy, accessibility request, smoking status, breakfast, taxes, deposit, cancellation deadline, check-in window, and the name on the booking. Ask which requests are guaranteed and which remain preferences.
For a late arrival, obtain the after-hours process and a direct contact. Do not rely on a generic ‘24-hour’ label without knowing how the building is entered and who can locate the reservation.

Detect payment diversion
A message that knows your booking details can still be fraudulent. When a recipient, link, account, deadline, or deposit method changes, contact the property or platform through the original known channel—not the contact inside the suspicious message.
Keep the final confirmation offline. At check-in, document a material room or charge mismatch promptly and allow the provider a reasonable chance to correct it. Save the state before accepting a replacement or paying twice.
