The first and only underground pumped-storage hydroelectric power plant in Thailand is located at the Lam Takhong Dam in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. This power plant operates by pumping water from the Lam Takhong Reservoir up to the upper reservoir at Khao Yai Thiang during periods of low electricity demand and releasing the water through turbines to generate electricity during peak demand times. In addition to its role in electricity generation, Lam Takhong Chonlapawatana Power Plant is also a center for tourism and energy education. Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant provides information about electrical energy and various innovations, such as the Wind Hydrogen Hybrid system—a technology that stores electrical energy generated from wind turbines in the form of hydrogen gas. By combining advanced power generation technology with the promotion of educational tourism, Lamtakong Jolabha Vadhana Power Plant serves as an example of sustainable and environmentally friendly energy development in Thailand.
